In October 2003, I relocated home and studio to a hill top overlooking both the Saddleback Valley and the coastline towards the south. My work this year reflects this move, sunrise and sunset colors, the moon rising over Saddleback mountain, storm systems moving across the valley, and above all, clouds and big sky. The surface of each piece is embellished with a variety of materials created by myself alone. Using rice papers of different weights, antique silks, and other fibers, I create unique color blends and textures using special dyes. The results are unique and richly layered artworks using these techniques on a foundation of monotype, collage, or shibori. It is my hope that you enjoy these works, as I do, and that they touch your soul. Mada
